Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of mirachron.com and related pages (the "Site"), owned and operated by Mirachron Security SRL ("Mirachron", "we", "our"). Certain initiatives, events, and sponsorships referenced on the Site may be run in whole or in part with or by Chronos Security Association (the "Association").

By using the Site, creating an account, or registering for any event referenced on the Site (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms and any Additional Terms presented for specific activities (for example, event rules, challenge contribution terms, sponsorship terms). If Additional Terms conflict with these Terms, the Additional Terms control for that activity.

• You must have legal capacity to enter a contract under applicable law.
• If you create an account or register for an event and you are under 16, a parent or legal guardian must authorize your participation and any optional data sharing. We may require verifiable guardian authorization during sign‑up.
• Organizations accepting sponsorship or entering agreements do so through duly authorized representatives.

You agree not to:

• Attack or attempt to disrupt the Site, event platforms, infrastructure, or other users.
• Interfere with fair play during competitions (e.g., sharing flags/solutions during the event, exploiting the platform).
• Upload or transmit malware, illegal content, or content you do not have rights to.
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

If you submit content (e.g., challenge proposals, write‑ups, feedback, comments):

• You warrant you have all rights necessary and your content is lawful and non‑malicious.
• You grant Mirachron a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free license to host, use, reproduce, modify (for formatting, fairness, or safety), and display your content in connection with the Services.
• We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.

Challenge contributions: If you propose or sponsor a challenge, additional content and IP terms apply (see the Challenge Contribution terms presented at submission).

• Event details, rules, eligibility, scoring, and awards are provided in the relevant Event Rules (Additional Terms).
• Fair play is enforced. We may pause a team, deduct points, or disqualify participants for suspected cheating or rule violations.
• Prizes are digital‑only (licenses, vouchers, credits, course seats). No physical shipments are offered. Codes/links are delivered by email, subject to availability and provider terms. No cash alternatives unless required by law.
• We may adjust schedules, retire or fix challenges, or make other changes needed for fairness and safety.

• When sponsorships are offered, the counterparty is the Chronos Security Association (non‑profit), which issues sponsorship agreements and receipts.
• Brand placements are acknowledgements (logos, mentions). We do not embed promotional copy inside challenges unless explicitly agreed.
• If we introduce a participant to a sponsor, we will do so only if the participant (and guardian, if under 16) has opted in to that introduction.

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which explains what we collect, why, for how long, and with whom we share it.

• Controller: For participant registrations and event operations, the Chronos Security Association may act as data controller, with Mirachron acting as processor under a data processing agreement.
• Opt‑in sharing: We share aggregate statistics publicly and with sponsors. We share personal data (e.g., name, email, participation statistics) with sponsors only if you opt in (and for minors under 16, only with guardian authorization).
• International transfers (e.g., to the United States) will rely on lawful transfer mechanisms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Neither Mirachron nor the Association will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or revenues, arising from or related to your use of the Services.
• Our aggregate liability for direct damages will not exceed the greater of (a) EUR 100 or (b) the amount you paid to us for the specific paid Service giving rise to the claim during the 3 months prior to the event giving rise to the liability.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in such cases, those limitations apply to the maximum extent allowed.

• Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with any applicable Additional Terms and the Privacy Notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.
• Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect.
• Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
• No Waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
